DARRIN JAMES BAND &
BRIDGE STREET RECORDS
In 2003, frustrated with the music industry, Darrin James
Greenawalt, decided to take his music career into his own
hands. He invested in variety of high-quality microphones and
preamps and a powerful recording system that would allow him to
make professional sounding recordings of his growing repertoire
of orginal music.
With an ever increasing roster of New York's most exciting
musicians and a loft space on Bridge Street in DUMBO, Brooklyn,
Darrin set to work on what would become the debut full lenth
album for his orginal roots-rock project, Darrin James Band.
Three years later Bridge Street Records released Thrones of Gold to wide
critical acclaim. One song, "Crazy World" featured prominently
on the hit Emmy-nominated series, "Deadliest Catch," earning
James and Bridge Street Records their first music licensing and
publishing revenue.
In 2009 Darrin James Band completed a 2nd full length album,
The
Lovely Ugly Truth, and
released it through Bridge Street Records. With his band, he
toured the U.S. gaining fans along the way. The follow up album
again received a positive response from critics and fans
earning Darrin James and Bridge Street Records a reputation for
consistently eclectic, soulful, and quality
recordings.
"Brooklyn
singer-songwriter Darrin James touches on Robbie
Robertson’s gruff soulfulness, Tom Waits’s
vaudevillian menace and Paul Westerberg’s ramshackle
charm in the bluesy rockers on his debut album, Thrones of
Gold. James has a knack for perceptive lyrics and memorable
tunes; his crack band supplies the laid-back grooves. " -
Time
Out New York
"The band has a solid organic sound
throughout, an impressive credential considering the scope
includes everything from gospel and murder ballads to primal
rock and country blues. Some stinging guitar, subtle strings,
and a great use of the horn section helps grab your attention
from track to track. A very nice surprise." - Pop
